While I am painting I rinse my acrylic brushes frequently in water. Acrylic paint dries fast so they need to be rinsed frequently to keep the paint from drying on them.
Oil painting brushes I keep in vegetable oil to keep them from drying while I am painting with them. Sometimes I keep them in vegetable oil overnight (not longer) as long as you are going to paint the next day. You can rinse your brushes while you are painting in turpentine or a similar product. You may want to use some kind of an odorless turpentine.

Good resources are
Daniel Smith www.danielsmith.com or Dick Blick www.dickblick.com both of these companies have some on-line painting information as well as forums and good mail order catalogues.
You may also want to check out some books from your local library. It is helpful to look over the books before deciding if you want to buy them.harmonyinlinehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12702022042647519754noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20692964.post-1137954791586392632006-01-22T13:33:00.000-05:002006-01-22T13:33:00.000-05:00i had a fabulous time Friday. We played it Sunday night and my team won.

Mexican Casserole... hmm... don't suppose you love your blog readers enough to share the recipe...?

Raiding a closet full of old art supplies??? Whew, sounds great!

I entirely know what you mean about getting anxious about asking questions to strangers about a subject you don't have too much background in... maybe writing down some of your questions beforehand would help? And if not, just picture me in there with you, standing by for support... laughing at absolutely nothing (as is my custom)... accidently knocking things over or bumping into them... fidgetting nervously...

And know I'm there with you in spirit!Jana Bhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11720367787031733691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20692964.post-1137903186255189362006-01-21T23:13:00.000-05:002006-01-21T23:13:00.000-05:00Jocelyn, I like Kat's idea above and I was going t...Jocelyn, I like Kat's idea above and I was going to suggest searching for info on the internet--I'm sure someone has a page or two out there about whatever you need to know.

The other thing I want to say is: don't worry about looking like an idot. Everybody is an idiot about something. In my experience, people are usually really open to helping me if I just say outright that I have no idea what I'm doing and I need help. If I try to pretend to know more than I do 'cuz I don't want to seem dumb, I don't get all the information I need.

Good luck!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20692964.post-1137875621390010642006-01-21T15:33:00.000-05:002006-01-21T15:33:00.000-05:00seems like a lot of us had ups and downs this week...seems like a lot of us had ups and downs this week. it's hard sometimes to focus on the positive (why is it so darn easy to focus on the negative stuff?), but try to be gentle with yourself. there's no need to feel guilty about the missed ad, however i think it's great that you're making it a priority this week. making yourself a priority is a good thing. :-)

wishing you a week of peace, creativity, and fun!!! :-)

p.s. sometimes when i'm trying out a new art medium, i go to the library and check out a ton of books on the subject. it usually helps it feel less scary and gives me some cool ideas!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
